We Have Cause To Be Uneasy

"God is the only comfort; He is also the supreme terror; the thing we most need and the thing we most want to hide from."
"Mere Christianity" pg. 31

Some people think the idea of God is merely a crutch, an emotional comfort to make us feel that life isn't meaningless. In part they are right; the idea of God is an emotion comfort. It's rather deflating to be having the best day of your life and then sit down and think "there is no God." Believing in God makes us all feel better. In fact, scientists have suggested that the belief in God is imbedded in our systems, that we are almost programmed to believe in God. To go against that natural programming can be quite unnerving. At the same time, believing in god is also terrifying. God is the supreme good, and at times we can be supremely bad. That is scary. Jesus said that "whoever is not for Me is against Me" and because He also said that he did not come to the world to judge it, but to save it. Friends, in this time, we must remember that God is the supreme power; that he has everything under control. We must remember he has the power to judge. However, we must not forget that he sent his son Jesus to cancel our debt, that Jesus is the only way to the Father, that our everlasting life must come through His blood.

Mystery

It's been coming to my attention that God is no more than a mystery.

2My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

All I know is that we are here, on this place called Earth. We aren't here by accident, we aren't a mistake. There was a man who came to Earth and died for my sins, only to rise three days later and ascend into heaven. That's it. Jesus died for me. I will follow Him. One day on my death bed, I wish to be able to say:

2 Timothy 4:7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

As for now, I will keep fighting, keep running, and keep my faith.
